Looms

Looms

For centuries, Vale Figueira was a trading village—connecting the coastal settlements with the mountain communities in the Grândola region.
Its specialty was artisanal textile production, particularly the highly sought-after Manta Alentejana, woven from local wool.
At Salvador, we are exploring the possibility of rebuilding three traditional looms and donating them to the Melides retirement home.
This initiative aims to keep elders active, preserve a cherished cultural tradition, support our society, and generate income for the local community.
