CONNECTING FARMERS TO END CONSUMERS
Since 2022, SALVADOR has been actively mapping local agricultural activity in the Melides region, identifying producers, their products, and the scale and nature of their production. In parallel, a study is underway on the foraging and use of wild goods, such as mushrooms, asparagus, medronho, and native herbs — aiming to better understand both availability and sustainable harvesting practices.
Together with local producers, we are developing a farm-to-table business model that will allow fresh, locally sourced products to reach residents, hotels, and restaurants efficiently and consistently. The model prioritizes short supply chains, fair pricing for producers, and access to high-quality regional goods for consumers.
In addition, we are collecting data on traditional recipes and preservation methods — exploring how local ingredients can be transformed into value-added products such as jams, sauces, and pickled goods, ensuring year-round availability and reducing waste.
To support this initiative, SALVADOR is also developing a consumer-friendly digital platform — an app designed to facilitate ordering, optimize logistics, and enhance the overall customer experience through transparency, simplicity, and efficiency.
The “Farm to Table – Melides” program is scheduled to launch in spring 2026, and represents a strategic effort to reconnect communities with their food sources, support local economies, and promote sustainable, regionally rooted food systems.
